What is CPG?
What is CPG and why should I care? This question may have crossed your mind recently and it led you here. Well here it is in its simplest form ~ CPG means Consumer Packaged Goods. This includes snacks, beverages, personal care items, skin care, makeup products and anything else you can buy in a Target. There is an entire CPG universe. There are conferences such as Expo West and Newtopia Now. A majority of the brands you see on the show Shark Tank are in the CPG category. So basically, CPG is part of your everyday life and you didn’t even know it.
I got my start in CPG during my time in corporate. I ran marketing communications for brands like Pepsi, Uniliever, General Mills and more. These communications included email, sms, in-app messaging and push notifications ~ reaching up to 20 million users. So as you can see I am no rookie to knowing the cpg consumer. Mocktale Creative is backed by 8+ years of experience and 100% passion for CPG, Food & Beverage brands.
I chose to be a CPG copywriter due to experience and understanding. By honing in on this specific industry, I knew I would 100% know how to help my clients. I specifically target CPG brands in their pre-launch or rebrand phase. Brands that know their brand's messaging is just as important as the product itself. This allows me to really get to establish the brand's foundation before they move to all of the sexy things like visual identity and marketing.
Let’s take Coca Cola & Pepsi for example. These beverages didn’t become the go to cookout beverages because they just taste good. They positioned themselves that way. These brands ensured creating household names through messaging to set themselves apart. So when you think about the CPG products that you routinely reach for on the shelves of grocery stores, ask yourself why? What keeps you coming back?
